FAQs
Why should I rent instead of just buying my own?
Tools are a significant investment for something that you may not need all the time. By renting, you're cutting the cost of your project, eliminating the burden of storing and maintenance, while contributing to a more sustainable, circular economy.
How do you decide which brand/tool to buy? Should I take your tools as recommendations?
- No they aren’t necessarily recommendations per se. When it’s time to buy tools for your own home shop, we suggest you understand what features and options are available and which of those you need. We can’t recommend a definitive “best tool” because it’s all relative!
- We consider many factors when choosing a tool for our site, including product weight and physical size. This helps keep shipping costs and rental fees lower. This also serves our value of inclusivity by making the tools easier to lift and use. We also consider quality, reliability, and features available to find the best tool for what we’re trying to teach.
If I placed an order and it takes a week to get here, am I paying for that week?
Nope! You’re charged for your first week when we ship your order but your rental “starts” the day you get it and your first renewal would be charged a week after that.
When do I have to send my rental back?
- We charge week by week so you can keep it as long as you like without locking yourself in to a timeline upfront.
- For example, if your order arrived on a Monday, you’re paid up until the following Monday. As long as the package is registered as dropped off by that following Monday, you won’t see any renewal fees. If you decide to keep it another week, you’ll be charged each Tuesday morning until we see it tracking back.
Can I rent for a shorter time than a week?
Not at the moment. We’re a new company and keeping things simple while we scale up. This may be something we offer in the future, but for now it keeps things simple and cost effective for us while we focus on providing a great experience!
